This morning we had a looooong sleep-in. While breakfast we talked about the last days what we have seen and what we liked most. We just loved the trip, there were some highlights, like Old Faithful, Custers Battlefield, the waggon ride in Red Lodge, Beartooth Pass and Yellowstone again - everything was just impressiv, great, amazing - just unforgettable!
After breakfast we went shopping in Idaho Falls and for sending picture postcards to our family at home in Germany we needed a post office. Pat also showed us her new home she would have on Dan and Maureen's land, to be much closer to them and not to stay for her own alone in her old house.
Oh yes, and this day was my, Heike's, 31st birthday. Before Breakfast Pat and Oliver sang a birthday song for me. That was just too cute. So Pat told us we would be invited to come over to Ben and Karen's at the evening for a BBQ. So after sending the Postcards we went over to Ben, Karen and their kids. They already knew it's my birthday, so have a look at that wonderful, sweet and absolute delicious birthday cake, Karen made for me:
Then they told me to blow out the candles. And I really tried, not only once, but these crazy candles always lighted up again! With the help of the kids I finally got it and we ate that delicious cake together with icecream. I've never eaten that mixture before, but it really was fabulous.
Later we had marshmellows, white and red ones, heated on an open fire! In Germany this is only allowed with special permission. It was the first time for us eating hot marshmellows, it was sticky and very sweet, but we sure enjoyed it and had a lot of fun. So thanks again to Ben and Karen for that wonderful birthday time, the cake and the BBQ. We really had a lot of fun with you and the kids!
Before we went to bed, Pat told us what they've planned for the next days - we would drive the long way to Hillsboro, Oregon to stay with Verena and her family.
