Today we first visited the Evergreen Aviation Museum in McMinnville, Oregon, southwest of Portland. This Museum is the home of the world famous "Spruce Goose", world's largest wooden aircraft. Built by Howard Hughes the "Flying Boat" was completed in 1947 after the end of World War II and it made only one flight.The flight went only a little over a mile at an altitude of 70 feet for about one minute. But, the short hop proved to all skeptics that the gigantic machine could, indeed, fly!
Furthermore there was to see a Vintage Aircraft Collection.
This is just a small model of the huge "Spruce Goose". We were able to take a view inside the "Spruce Goose" and it really is huuuge!
After that we visited the Tillamook Cheese and Ice Factory close to the Tillamook Bay at the Pacific Ocean. We followed the guided tour through the workshop and watched how the cheese was packed. At the end of the tour we got to taste some of the different kinds of cheese. Before we left the factory we went over to the shop to get some souvenirs and we have eaten original Tillamook Ice Cream - it was soooo delicious!! I don't know exactly why, but unfortunately we didn't take any pictures of that trip. We sure have taken a video, but no pics at all.
